TITLE: ... TCP/IP AFP Printer Configuration at R370
New to R370 and above for IPDS printer setup on the LAN that will be using TCP/IP protocol for setup, the IP address, port number, and activation timer is entered into the device description rather than the *PSFCFG object or WRKAFP2 data area (depending on prior release). If any of the PSFCFG parameters are needed, then create and reference in the device description USRDFNOBJ parameter.

If sharing this printer on the network with other systems, then the *PSFCFG object will have to be created to alter the Release timer. It is defaulting to *nomax which means the AS/400 will not release the printer to the network once the writer is started. A value of *sec15 will free it up when inactive for 15 seconds. When a spool file arrives in the outq, it will attempt to connect with the printer to send automatically.
