Support for IPDS Printing via Lexmark Optra Printer Using TCP/IP

Lexmark International has released new function that allows the Optra printer to be configured as an *IPDS printer. Below are the requirements from Lexmark to make this happen:

• A Flash SIMM for IPDS feature must be installed in the Optra printer. The following models are supported: Optra R, Optra R+, Optra Rx, Optra Rn+, Optra Rt+, Optra L, Optra Lx, Optra Lxi, Optra Lx+, Optra Lxi+, and Optra Lxn+.
  
• The user must have the Marknet XL(INA) or Marknet XLe(external) LAN adapter.
  
• The printer must have at least 4 MB of memory.
  
• The Marknet LAN adapter must be at the following code levels:
  
  XL -- 79.130.01
  XLe - 04.130.01
  
• The printer must be configured manually on the AS/400 system. This configurations is similar to the 7913 Brick configuration.
  
  On R310, R320, and R360: The device description is *IPDS, Model 0, *RMT, and AFP is set to *YES.
  
  On R370: Change *RMT to *LAN.
  
  On R310 and R36: The WRKAFP2 command must be generated to create the data area.
  
  On R320 and R370: The CRTPSFCFG command is provided to create the PSF configuration object.
  
  The TCP/IP PORT is 9100, 9101, or 9102 depending on which port of the Marknet XLe is used. The internal Marknet XL uses PORT 9100.
